🚲 Is the Infinite battery is compatible with my bike?
It’s very easy to check the compatibility of your e-bike, or regular bike in case you’re doing an electric conversion!
There are 3 compatibility questions to answer: mechanical, electrical and electronic. Here is a simple guide to answer those (takes less than 2 minutes):
For information, the battery casing is 25cm x 9cm x 9cm, and weighs about 4kg.
💌 What do I receive when I order?
You have 3 options. The one you select depends on your willingness to build the battery, or whether you want it pre-assembled. ⚠️ The price you pay will be reduced by $110 for the pack without cells
- Kit without cells(🔋🪛): cheapest option (pay $110 less), contains a docking support, charger and fireproof battery casing, the BMS, contact plates, screws, and valves, and the honeycomb spacer. This requires a bit of assembly, but is very easy for DIY-oriented people. This is the perfect option if you already have your own cells.
- Kit with cells(🔋🪛): same as previous, but we also provide you with cells that you have to mount in the battery (very easy to do). This is the recommended option.
- Pre-assembled and tested battery(🔋😇): you’ll just need to fix you docking support to your bike and set the proper motor on the app and you’re ready to go! This is if you don’t want to do any assembly.
🥰 Can I order a pre-assembled battery?
Yes, we do ship pre-assembled batteries! If you don’t want to do the assembly yourself (which is quite fun and easy) there’s always the option!
🤔 How easy is it to install on my bike?
The process is really straightforward, and takes less than 10 minutes:
- screw the docking support to your frame
- insert the wires in the “Click-to-Connect” support. This is easy and safe: there is no welding, no complicated operation, and no risk of electrocution at all!
🔋 What is the battery autonomy?
The autonomy strongly depends on your controller settings and your riding habits. With a standard 250W controller you can achieve 60 miles over a charge.
In my case, with a Bullitt cargo bike, two kids and some groceries doing 4 miles a day for the past 3 years, I charge usually once a week!
🔥 Is this really fireproof?
Yes, totally! We have put a tremendous effort on this one and this is not some marketing stunt!

🧯Can’t I just buy a LiPo bag to make my battery fireproof?
Well… we don’t think it’s as safe as those vendors want you to believe.
On the other hand, our fireproof casing has been extensively tested to contain battery fire. So, in our case, we prefer to stay on the safe side and go with the Gouach Infinite Battery casing.
📱 Is the mobile app required?
No! You can use your battery without the app.
The app is useful either
- when you want to diagnose your battery (a failure, a performance issue), as it will indicate you which cells are weak
- when you want to setup your battery (change cell model or motor parameters)
We are looking into open-sourcing this app soon!
The app is also secure, and nobody but you can set your battery parameters.
💵 What is the price of the cells?
You can buy the battery with or without cells. And since it’s easy to service and refill, you can keep the battery for as long as you want, by changing the cells that are drained. This means that instead of paying north of $500 for a new battery every 3 years, you can now pay as little as $150 every 3 years by just buying news cells.
The price of the cells will depend on where you buy them and in which quantity. You can even up-cycle cells from another battery for free, or buy cheap second-life cells on many cell marketplaces!

⚡️ Can we change the battery voltage?
No, one battery is designed for one specific voltage. We will however offer the two most frequently used voltages: 36V and 48V. If you have specific needs, feel free to contact us at contact@gouach.com, and we will tell you if we are planning a battery which matches your requirements.
🔋 What will be the next battery models?
If this launch is successful (which looks like it is considering the number of orders flooding us) we will offer a rear-rack battery next, as this is the most requested model you guys have asked for!
🤔 Is it compatible with 21700 cells?
Not quite yet, but we might offer it next year. Our goal is to enable people to upcycle cells and since 18650 is the most common cell format, it makes sense for us to start with this first!
💪 Is your battery UL-certified?
Yes, they will. Our battery passes all the UN and IEC certifications! (See this page for more information). Concerning the new UL certification, most of the test passed, we are only waiting for the final version of the aluminum casing to validate the crush test.
