MOSFET model: NCEP033N10D in TO-263
MOSFET number: 2 MOSFETs in parallel, 2 groups in series
100V, 2.7mR(typ), 3.3mR(max)
With only 2 MOSFETs like this and a linear layout, it is rather easy to have an equal distribution of current between the two // MOSFETs. This is good for things such as short circuit protection.
I have doubts about SOA during SCD with only 2 parallel MOS, but I guess they did their math?
See for comparison of the MOSFET solution with what we currently have on Gouach’s BMS
BMS IC:
BMS schematic?
BMS protocol?
Balancing resistors are 100R, probably 1206, but I only see 10 of these, oddly
Other notes:
  • Dual sided components, at least 4-layer PCB
  • A bit bigger dimensions, more spaced
  • A QR code is printed over a white silkscreen zone
  • They have redundant over/undervoltage protections with an externally triggerable fuse. It’s complicated for us to use because of the uncertainty of connection in our assembly process (to be studied)
  • Externally triggerable fuse is marked “45A10K G2010”. 45A fuse. Exemple of applicable fuse: SCF9550-45-14 (45A, 13-14 series cells). Externally triggerable fuse = electrical fuse = battery protector fuse = "Combined Thermal Fuse/Resistor" or "Fuse-Resistance protector”
    • Our fuse is 0ACA-9300-TE 30A. From its curve, max current is 60A for 10s, 50A for 50s, 40A for 400s. We cannot discharge 60A for 13s as in the spec from Lime’s battery
    • If we take its 40A variant: 60A for 300s ⇒ OK, we need to use the 40A fuse instead
  • Conformal coating is thick, seems to be epoxy. Very good mechanical properties, components aren’t going nowhere. Must be good for waterproofing too. Applied everywhere (even over exposed reinforced tracks) except over the debug connectors and the externally triggerable fuse (to allow rework).
  • Test points are all on the underside, they have solder on them
  • They also use a Grove connector and an XT60 for power
  • Predischarge circuit looks similar to ours. They put 3x 100R 2512 resistors in parallel (with provision for up to 4). Or is it for precharge?z
  • Shunt resistor is a single 1mR 2512 shunt
  • Their µC has a 8M crystal, probably useful for good time accuracy
